You can close your account from your account settings. Closing your account is intended for users who want to permanently stop using BackgroundErase and remove the data associated with that account.
Important: Closing your account is permanent. Once confirmed, you should expect your account access and associated data to be removed as part of the deletion process.
Step-by-step
- In the top-right corner of the site, click the round profile circle.
- Click My account.
- Scroll to the bottom of the account page.
- Find the delete account option.
- Review the warning message and confirm that you want to permanently close the account.

Before you close your account
Before permanently deleting your account, make sure you no longer need access to anything tied to it, such as past usage history, billing records, API keys, or saved account settings.
- Download or save anything you may want to keep later
- Make note of any account email or billing details you may need for your records
- Remove or rotate any API keys that may still be used in active applications
- Review any active subscription before completing the closure flow
What happens after deletion
After your account is closed, you should no longer be able to sign in with that account, and the associated data will be deleted as part of the account removal process. If you think you may want to use BackgroundErase again later, consider making sure you have saved anything important before confirming deletion.
Note: Account closure is meant to be final, so double-check that you are ready before confirming it.
